Financial Services, Speaker and Coach

Why do you remember 911? Here are some of MY reasons…I was speaking at a bank investment conference (in Minneapolis fortunately). The prior day, I closed as the featured speaker with a signature presentation called “Heroes” which talks about REAL heroes, not athletes or stranded celebrities. That morning I was sitting in the back of the room, and another speaker whispered in my ear what had happened. The first call I received when I turned on my phone was from my daughter; she knew I was scheduled to go to Boston that week (the origin of the planes that hit the WTC) but didn’t know what day. I conference-called the kids that evening and told them to carry on, to continue to live life. We had no idea who the attackers were at that point, but if we changed our way of life, we let them win.

In remembrance, today we continue to do just that, and I pray we always will, but we will NEVER forget those who died as victims, or those first responders who went up the stairs as everyone else was coming down. We will NEVER forget those brave souls on Flight 93. We will NEVER forget those who are growing up without parents who died that day. We will never forget the women and men who serve in the military, like Diggs Brown, who protected all of us. And we will NEVER forget those in foreign civil service, like my friend…my hero… David Abell, and their families who have sacrificed much to serve those State Side. Never forget; never.
